Privacy policy

Zimbabwe Ostomates Support Trust respects the privacy of everyone who contacts us. A person’s medical situation is theirs to share, and confidentiality is one of our core values.

Who we are

Zimbabwe Ostomates Support Trust (ZOST) is a nonprofit trust registered in Zimbabwe under Deed of Trust MA 117/17, with offices at 1 Headingley Drive, Ashdown Park, Harare, Zimbabwe. For any privacy question, contact info@zost-zw.org.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need in order to help. Depending on how you contact us, that may include:

  • Your name and contact details, such as phone number or email
  • Information about the ostomate we are assisting, including the type of stoma, its size and the appliance used, so that we send the correct supplies
  • Your location, so that we can arrange collection or delivery
  • Details of a donation you have made, so that we can acknowledge and record it

Information about a person’s stoma is health information. We treat it as confidential and collect it only where it is necessary to provide the right appliance or support.

How we use it

  • To assess needs and provide ostomy supplies and support
  • To contact you about your request or your donation
  • To keep accurate records of what the trust has received and distributed, which we are accountable for as trustees
  • To report the scale of our work in aggregate to donors and partners, without identifying individuals

What we never do

  • We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone
  • We do not publish names, photographs or medical details of an ostomate without their specific, informed consent
  • We do not share your information with other organisations except where you ask us to, or where the law requires it

Photographs and consent

We only publish photographs of identifiable people where they have given consent, and consent can be withdrawn at any time. Consent for one use is not consent for every use. If a photograph of you appears anywhere in our material and you want it removed, tell us and we will remove it.

How we protect information

Access to personal and health information is limited to the volunteers who need it to do their work. Our website is served over an encrypted connection. Records are kept for as long as needed to provide ongoing support and to meet our record keeping obligations as a registered trust.

This website

This website does not use advertising cookies and does not sell visitor data. If we later add analytics to understand which guides are most useful, we will use it only in aggregate and will update this page before doing so.

Where you contact us through WhatsApp, your use of that service is also governed by WhatsApp’s own privacy terms, which we do not control.

Your rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@zost-zw.org and we will respond. There is no charge for this.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page.
